SUMMARY:
The Teacher’s job is to assure that all students learn the basic and essential skills at each grade level by performing the duties listed below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree required, completion of the CBEST, and a Teaching Credential preferred. Minimum of two years teaching experience in the classroom preferred. Must be able to relate professionally with students, parents, and staff. Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following:
1) Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive art curricula that align with CA State standards and school objectives.
2) Plan and deliver lessons that encompass a variety of art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, digital art, and art history.
3) Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
4) Plans and implements daily, weekly, and yearly goals and objectives according to students’ needs and within Brookfield’s overall curriculum guidelines.
5) Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into art instruction.
6) Demonstrate and teach various art techniques and processes.
7) Promotes Brookfield’s philosophy and actively works to develop a positive working environment among students, teachers, administrator, and support staff.
8) Manage classroom materials and equipment effectively, ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
9) Organize and display student artwork in the classroom and school exhibitions.
10) Plans for, writes, and implements weekly lesson plans to assure adherence to and completion of Brookfield’s curriculum and to facilitate classroom continuity in his/her absence. Head of School and Associate Head of School must have access to the lesson plans.
11) Assures that lesson plans include varied styles of teaching methods and stimulating feedback mechanisms, enrichment work, provision for remediation, visual and auditory aids.
12) Utilizes Brookfield adopted Learning Management System (LMS) to post homework/assignments and communicate with students and parents.
13) Facilitates and inspires student learning in and through the use of technology by designing learning opportunities that incorporate age-appropriate technology skills, using technology to assist with teaching and learning, modeling the effective use of technology.
14) Seeks out and implements changes in scheduling and planning that will enhance individual learning, facilitate transition times, and ensures on-task behavior.
15) Designs evaluation tools and tests children on a routine basis, keeps records and maintains such for progress reports, report cards and conferences. The online gradebook is updated weekly so parents and students can access up-to-date student records via the adopted student information system.
16) Analyzes and utilizes pre and post test information for lesson planning and overall input into the curriculum and to accommodate both group and individual differences.
17) Provides adequate teacher preparation of materials to maximize actual classroom teaching time.
18) Organizes and maintains a safe, disciplined, yet stimulating academic classroom environment.
19) Plans implements, and supervises special academic, social events as required. Contributes to the planning and arranging of age appropriate field trips; conducts and supervises them in a safe and organized manner, utilizing parent support where needed.
20) Maintains disciplined classroom; assures that all the children are aware of rules and their consequences; and further assures consistency in applying the rules.
21) Is responsible to Head of School and Associate Head of School for taking directions and communicating needs. Keeps Head of School informed of children who need special academic attention or have behavioral issues.
22) Assures safety standards are taught and implemented. Reports deviations to the Head of School, Associate Head of School or Safety Officer.
23) Maintains classroom, books, and supplies, in a safe, neat and orderly condition.
24) Arranges bulletin boards utilizing students work assuring the display is artistic, seasonal and academically stimulating.
25) Maintains ongoing positive communications with parents professionally and in a timely manner.
26) Communicates in a positive, professional, and timely manner with parents and staff.
27) Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
28) Supervises, when schedule requires, recess duty and after school behavioral detention and/or study hall.
29) Provide a minimum of one hour of planned Academic Assistance per week as scheduled with the Head of School.
30) Supports and attends orientation programs, Parent Nights, Open House, musical programs, sports events, pentathlon, and promotion and all other special school activities and events when appropriate.
31) Attends and constructively participates in staff meetings & professional development and shows evidence of follow through in classroom application.
32) Understands and is knowledgeable of all Brookfield’s policies, procedures and philosophies, including emergency fire and earthquake procedures; and conveys, where appropriate, such information to the students.
33) Continues to develop professionally through reading, attending workshops and in-services and participation in conferences.
34) Must follow Brookfield dress code policy.
35) Sets good example for students by arriving on time, dressing professionally, planning creative and productive lessons, and promptly evaluating and returning student work
36) Carries on other duties as directed by the Head of School/Associate Head of School.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primarily an office/classroom position. May require significant degree of intermittent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and stretching. May require lifting of up to 20 lbs.
