The group’s main activities will focus on delivering a wide variety of capital solutions to insurance companies and other industry participants, including reinsurance and other life and annuity-based products.
Investment Analytics
BWS is seeking a Senior Associate to join our New York-based investment team. This individual will work across asset classes to develop and implement our insurance investment strategy, especially as it relates to (re)insurance liabilities. This role will give broad exposure to Brookfield’s credit and insurance platform, particularly investments within Brookfield’s core verticals (Real Estate, Infrastructure, Renewables, Private Credit / Private Equity). This individual will work across functions (portfolio management, sector teams, investment managers, insurance operating entities, finance and operations) to build and enhance our insurance investment program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the coordination, preparation and interpretation of cross functional projects between investments and actuarial groups
- Supporting reporting and analysis for Asset Liability Management, Strategic Asset Allocation, Portfolio Management, Capital Management, and Economic Valuation
- Modelling the intersection of alternative assets, insurance products, and reinsurance structures with a focus on forecasting
- Assessing regulatory, GAAP accounting and valuation model considerations for various blocks of business across a variety of regulatory frameworks
- Providing integration and operational support for rapidly growing insurance and reinsurance businesses
- Providing leadership for and acting as a Subject Matter Expert on model building and development initiatives, using creative problem solving and modern actuarial modelling techniques
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Finance
- Credentialed Actuary preferred but not explicitly required (e.g., ASA/ACAS, FSA/FCAS)
- 3-6 years of relevant experience, including product development, reinsurance, insurance M&A, ALM, SAA, risk management, financial reporting, or valuation
- Life and Annuity experience preferred, additional P&C experience a bonus
- Familiarity with US STAT/GAAP, Bermuda, or Cayman Islands frameworks
- Strong quantitative and technical skills and experience in actuarial modelling
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present clearly and offer practical advice
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to interact with various levels of management, third parties and industry colleagues
- Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently
