Position Summary:
Develops, implements and maintains the care communities Restorative Nursing Program; Participates in the planning, organizing, directing and facilitating the clinical operations of the assigned units to ensure regulatory compliance, nurture a person centered culture, and ensures quality care; Evaluates quality of resident care and resident outcomes as they relate to the healthcare associated/nosocomial infections. Assumes responsibility of the Restorative Nurse Coordinator position.
Essential Functions:

- Must be in good physical condition as the position requires the ability to stand on one’s feet throughout the day, as well as, push, pull, move and/or lift repetitively a minimum of 10 pounds up to greater than 50 pounds.

Position Responsibilities:
- Implements specific restorative programs at the direction of the DON using the nursing process and ensures proper delivery and documentation with all nursing staff.
- Works closely with licensed therapists to ensure that specific recommendations are followed through when discharged from formal therapy programs.
- Works as part of the Interdisciplinary team, completes sections of the MDS and ensures that all restorative nursing measures are reflected in the plan of care.
- Participates in care plan conference, case mix meeting, and stand up; makes recommendations and/or reports on restorative nursing programs and infection control.
- Ability to utilize Point Click Care and other software systems and reports.
- Participates in the CQI process
- Preform on-going monitoring of health care associated/nosocomial infections.
- Tracks trends in infection within the facility and reports infection clusters and communicable diseases to appropriate agencies required by state and local regulations.
- Identify infection control issues and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and Tuberculosis Control Plan.
- Educates new employees and provides continued education to all employees for techniques and practices of restorative nursing care and infection control.
- Periodically makes rounds on all shifts to monitor restorative programs, infection control practices and employee compliance.
- Communicates on a regular basis with the Director of Nursing on the process of the restorative programs, infection control, and other clinical issues within the unit.
- Participates in the “Nurse On-Call” program
- Communicates effectively with residents, staff and visitors
- Manages equipment and supplies and appropriateness of appliances including but not limited to
- wheelchairs, mattresses, cushions, and splints.
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
- Graduation form an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification recommended.
- Certification in Infection Control is desired.
