BEEP Per Diem Substitute - 3 days (SY2425)

The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) serves over 7,500 students in Pre-Kindergarten to grade
12. We operate one early childhood program (BEEP), eight elementary (K-8) schools and one
high school in the Town of Brookline. PSB is seeking committed professionals to contribute to
our mission to ensure that every student develops the skills and knowledge to pursue a
productive and fulfilling life, to participate thoughtfully in a democracy, and succeed in a
diverse and evolving global society.

Responsibilities:

• Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal
• Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning
• Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises and additional resources
• Take attendance according to school policy
• Keep track of students’ progress and write down information that’ll be useful to the regular teacher
• Report any incidents regarding students’ behavior in and out of the classroom
• Maintain a tidy and safe class environment for students
• Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly
• Support curriculum and instruction under the direction of the teacher.
• Prepare and coordinate materials for learning activities at the request of the teacher
• Support students’ ability to follow the classroom routine and assist with student       engagement during large and small group instruction.
• Manage and instruct small and large groups, and support of the classroom teacher throughout the school day.
• Support young children’s social problem solving skills and behavior regulation throughoutthe school day.
• Greet students each morning and support smooth transition into classroom and betweenclassroom learning activities throughout the school day.

All candidates must receive A PSB suitability determination of any criminal history background, including fingerprinting and CORI. Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

SY2425 Per Diem daily rate: $135

Candidate is expected to report 3 days a week 8/30/2024- 6/20/2025.

NOTE: The school year is 183 days (provided there are no cancellations).
