What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Athletic Trainer Spring Season position at Brookline School District?
The Public Schools of Brookline seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Spring season.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and will provide sports medicine services for games, practices, and matches sponsored by Brookline High School (BHS). The Assistant Athletic trainer will abide by and observe the terms of the generally accepted practices and procedures expected and pursuant to the applicable licensure laws, rules, and regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which govern their professional practice.
Pursuant to MIAA regulations, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide coverage to the visiting team's athletes, when the visiting team has no medical coverage.
Specific job responsibilities include :
- Report to the Director of Athletics
- Work under the direction of BHS Team Physician and BHS Head Athletic Trainer
- Provide general athletic training services for home and away athletes;
- Act as a liaison between athletes, families, BHS, and physicians / specialists;
- Exercise authority in determining the ability of an athlete to resume participation post-injury;
- Collaborate with School Nurse, Deans and other involved school personnel regarding head injury reporting and concussion management, including return-to-academics and return-to-play;
- Maintain injury records;
- Support all medical personnel and work collaboratively with Town of Brookline emergency response personnel, as needed;
- All other related duties as required

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work 10-15 hours per week (based on 3pm-6pm M-F, w / flex scheduling as needed...mid-August through Thanksgiving. Including weekend / holiday coverage as necessary w / flex scheduling.
Compensation : Based on experience per Unit A, Appendix B seasonal stipend
