Position Title: Seasonal Visitor Services Coordinator
Department: Visitor Services
Reports to: Visitor Services Manager
FLSA Status: Part-Time Seasonal, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20.50 per hour
Schedule: Hours vary by season; 3–5 days/week (Wednesday–Sunday), March–October 2025 with possible extension through December 2025
Position Description:
The seasonal Visitor Services coordinator is responsible for assisting with all day-to-day activities of Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s admissions operations, including providing support to approximately 40–50 part-time seasonal Visitor Services staff; providing exceptional customer service to the Garden’s visitors and members; managing the admission booths; and otherwise supporting the needs of the Visitor Services department.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the ground operations of the Garden’s Visitor Services team, including opening and closing ticket booths and compiling daily box office reports.
- Support frontline Visitor Services staff and provide excellent customer service to the Garden’s visitors.
- Serve as first point of escalation for customer issues at the Garden’s three ticket booths.
- On peak visitation days, float among the entrances helping troubleshoot issues that arise and covering shift captain lunch breaks when needed.
- Assist with keeping booths stocked with printed Garden materials and other supplies.
- Answer emails and phone calls from visitors as needed.
- Assist with other departmental tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2–3 years’ experience in a frontline customer service role, preferably at a cultural institution
- Must possess a positive, energetic demeanor and thrive working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to identify and solve problems efficiently
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; weekend and holiday work required
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite and cash handling
- Current driver’s license required
