Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition is a cooperative animal rescue and shelter that has a feline spay/neuter and vaccine clinic for rescuers and low-income pet owners. We work to provide these essential services at a reasonable cost. We also offer additional dental and surgical services to rescuers needing assistance with homeless animals. We are looking for experienced veterinary technicians who have experience with high volume surgery and various technical nursing skills, including, but not limited to, venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, critical care, and pharmacology. Beyond employing these skills, this tech would become a vital team member guiding the growth and future of our clinical operations.

In addition, you would be involved with insuring shelter animals receive the medical care that they require to ensure they are ready for adoptive homes. Primary responsibilities include animal care with limited interaction with members of the public. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee & manage surgical and clinical veterinary procedures.
- Assist with anesthesia, monitoring and set up of surgery patients, including intubate patients with minimal assistance.
- Oversee clean up post surgery and prepare for next surgical process.
- Collect and perform laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood counts.
- Prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian - especially to shelter animals.
Both part time and full time candidates will be considered with the right experience. Availability for an early start time (7:30/8:30 am) on some shifts is required. Generally shifts are 8-10 hours for 2 (part time) to 4 (full time) days a week.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of surgery experience
- IV catheter placement & venipuncture
- Anesthetic induction, maintenance and recovery
- Must be able to intubate cats and have significant experience with surgery
- High volume spay/neuter experience
- Experience medicating and providing treatments to cats.
