JOB TITLE: Percussion Instructor
LOCATION: Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College
FULL/PART TIME: Part-Time(Non-tax levy funded position)
POSITION DETAILS

Since 1978, the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College has provided a nurturing and fun setting where our talented, professional artist-teachers develop children's skills in music, theater and dance to their fullest potential. Preparatory Center students are ages 3 to 18,at all levels of study.
Reporting to the Preparatory Center Director, percussion Instructors are responsible for the following:
- Teach private and group percussion lessons to children of varied ages and levels
- Prepare students for solo and group recitals, masterclasses and other performances
- Contribute to the preparation of concert programs, creation of group classes and provide additional assistance as needed
- Accompany, direct and perform in student and instructor recitals when required
Must be available on:
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays or Fridays
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Performance and/or Music Education
- Minimum four years of private and group teaching experience
- Strong knowledge of repertoire and curriculum, and experience in music pedagogy and classroom management
- Excellent musicianship and artistry, and proficiency in the instrument
- Ability to consistently and effectively communicate with the students, parents and administration in a positive manner
- Commitment to providing a stimulating, collaborative and inclusive learning environment
