Meat Lead

Overview

Brooklyn Grocery Outlet is a locally owned and operated grocery store, and our goal is to provide a clean, fresh and unique shopping experience for our customers every day.

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Meat Lead to join our team. The Meat Lead will maintain a fresh, full, and high variety Meat and Seafood department by properly managing, ordering, and maintaining product ensuring that customers have a great experience every time they shop.

Summarized Duties

• Greet all customers and assist with questions and concerns, while providing excellent customer service.
• Maintain freshness standards through culling and proper rotating of product, FIFO, while properly maintaining cold chain.
• Maintain inventory levels and control, order, receive and merchandise product onto the sales floor.
• Ensure department and merchandising standards are met consistently. Develop and execute in store promotions to build customer loyalty.
• Maintain accurate retail pricing throughout department.
• Maintain clean and organized backstock.
• Maintain a clean and organized department; meat equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the meat cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Ensure no expired product is ever on display, taking action on close dated merchandise to move through product.
• Follows established guidelines when disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
• Lead and train Meat Clerk(s).
• Follow company policies and procedures, including following standard Food Safety guidelines.
• Assist with cashiering, cart runs or other customer service related tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other Fresh departments as needed.

• Previous meat/grocery experience is a plus!
• Intermediate math skills.

Environmental Job Conditions

• Frequent movement on hard surfaces; standing, bending, handling, pulling, pushing, reaching, and stooping.
• Frequently requires lifting objects up to 40 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects greater than 40 pounds with assistance.
• Comfortable indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers and/or coolers. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
