Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: 600 Longworth St., Dayton, OH 45402
Job Summary: We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to perform essential accounting and customer service duties in support of the The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA). This role will involve processing invoices, managing vendor payments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting GDRTA’s mission and goals.
Position Duration:
Position duration may be anywhere from two months to six or more months. Temp to hire opportunities may also be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to staff and vendors, resolving issues and preventing future problems.
- Receive and date-stamp all incoming invoices, distributing them to the appropriate departments for approval and purchase order release.
- Perform data entry for invoices, check requests, and manual or voided checks.
- Process payments to vendors and employees, generating computer-generated checks.
- Maintain accurate records of all generated checks (manual and voided) in GDRTA's authorized Bank Book.
- Prepare manual accruals for posting to the general ledger.
- Close the Purchasing/Receiving and A/P sub ledgers monthly in a timely manner.
- Keep the vendor file organized and up to date.
- Prepare and issue tax information forms (e.g., 1099) and related reports on schedule.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent training in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, and bookkeeping.
