Job Title: Catholic Religious Education Coordinator
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Roman Catholic Religious Education Coordinator. This role is integral to supporting the religious education, spiritual growth, and sacramental preparation of the Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) Roman Catholic Community. The successful candidate will work closely with the Roman Catholic Chaplain/Priest and the Archdiocese for Military Services (AMS) to implement the religious education curriculum.
Work Hours:
The Coordinator is expected to work an average of 20 hours per week, amounting to approximately 1,120 hours per year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage religious education programs for grades K-12, including sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
- Organize and co-lead retreats and provide baptismal instructions for parents and godparents as requested.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings, including the Roman Catholic Advisory Council and staff meetings.
- Develop and maintain a 9-month calendar of events and scheduled classes.
- Recruit, train, and oversee catechists and catechist aides.
- Ensure all teaching materials align with the Roman Catholic Church's doctrine and are approved by the Roman Catholic Chaplain/Priest.
- Manage program logistics, including budgeting, facility requests, and volunteer coordination.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Roman Catholic Religious Education Coordinator or five years teaching experience in a Roman Catholic program.
- Must be in the process of completing AMS Catechist Certification within 30 days of starting the position.
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with a letter from the current or immediate prior pastor.
- Strong interpersonal, theological, and administrative skills.
