Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pool Sample Collector in support of The City of Cincinnati. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and quality of public swimming pools and spas across the city. As a Pool Sample Collector, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the community.
Work Location: Various locations in Cincinnati, Ohio, where public swimming pools and spas are situated. The role involves traveling to these sites to collect water samples and conduct safety assessments.
Position Duration: This is a seasonal position occuring during the summer months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect water samples from public swimming pools and spas for laboratory analysis.
- Utilize DPD Chlorine/pH test kits to check chlorine and pH levels in pool water.
- Determine total dissolved solids (TDS) levels using a testing meter and accurately record results.
- Assess safety conditions at public swimming pools and spas, advising sanitarians of any immediate concerns.
- Deliver collected samples to designated laboratories in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all tests and assessments conducted.
- Participate in extensive training on the safe and proper use of chemicals, reagents, and equipment related to water quality testing.
Qualifications:
- Completion of high school-level chemistry and biology courses.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Ability to drive a personal vehicle for job duties.
- Good communication skills for reporting findings to the Environmental Health Services team.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
