Job Title: Unarmed Security Guard

Job Description:

We are seeking reliable and vigilant unarmed security guards to provide security services in support of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) California Water Science Center at two drill sites located approximately 7 miles east of Taft, California.

The primary role is to ensure the safety and security of equipment against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.

Shift Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

The period of performance for this position is from April 15, 2025, to September 30, 2025. During this time, approximately 13 nights of security service are scheduled at the two drill sites, AEM1 and AEM2, based on rig staff schedules

Key Responsibilities:

- Patrolling & Surveillance: Conduct perimeter patrols every 30 minutes, remain observant between patrols, and routinely check all equipment at the sites.
- Incident Response & Reporting: Report emergencies immediately to 911 and notify designated USGS staff. Document patrols and observations, including photographs of any theft attempts or security risks.
- Access Control: Request trespassers to leave without physical engagement. Guards are not responsible for granting access to the site.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed shift logs and incident reports.

Qualifications:

- Must be properly licensed and trained in security operations.
- Must have passed background checks before assignment.
- Possess a cell phone for emergency communication.
- Own a vehicle suitable for gravel, dirt, and paved terrain.

Additional Information:

- The work environment is outdoors with no illumination or shelter provided.
- Security services may be required on weekends and holidays.
- Coverage is expected for approximately 13 nights, split between the two sites based on rig staff schedules.
