Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Automation Engineer to join our team. As a Building Automation Programmer/Designer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge automation systems for commercial buildings. Your role will involve integrating various building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management, to create efficient and intelligent automated environments. You will work closely with our field operation team to ensure optimal functionality and user satisfaction.
Location: Office (80%), Project Site (20%)
Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday to Friday (may vary based on project needs)
Location & Compensation:
- Orlando: $96,000 - $117,000 per year
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Building Automation Systems based on client requirements and industry best practices.
- Integrate diverse building systems, including HVAC, lighting, security, access control, fire alarms, and energy management, into a unified automation platform.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and facility managers to understand building specifications, technical constraints, and user needs.
- Create detailed system design documents, including system architecture, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.
- Collaborate with vendors as needed to verify the proper use, functionality, and limitations of sourced components.
- Create programs for automation controllers, sensors, actuators, and other devices to achieve desired functionality and performance.
- Provide Graphics Engineer with detailed system schematics, Graphics hardware, and software point list based on the design documents, wiring diagrams, and control programs.
- Create performance checkout documentation for the field operation team.
- Conduct final on-site commissioning (Big Picture) of automation systems to ensure proper functioning and adherence to project specifications.
- Provide technical support and training to the field operation team.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users, including facility managers and maintenance staff.
- Adhere to the Project schedule and deadline provided by the Project manager and customer.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulations related to building automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Assist the BAS Service Team with regular system maintenance, such as upgrades, and software/firmware updates to optimize performance and address any issues.
- Assist in developing project proposals, cost estimates, and timelines for automation projects.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining building automation systems. Experience with ACAD, Niagara, and Distech preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management.
- Proficiency in protocols used in building automation systems, such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interact with clients.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
- Flexibility to travel to client sites for commissioning and maintenance as required.
