Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Office Assistant for a small practice . The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional support to patients while also problem solving insurance or payment discrepancies. This position requires an understanding of basic computer skills, excellent communication & people skills, and the ability accurately follow instructions.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and manage front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Reconciling different payment forms with dates of service.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient files.
- Perform insurance verification, follow up on pending issues, and communicate with insurance representatives.
- Assist with medical billing processes, for a small number of codes.
- Maintain accurate patient information and handle confidential documents in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide administrative support including filing, data entry, and responding to phone calls.
- Provide light cleaning and vacuuming.
- Hours are 4-4.5 per day, Mon, Wed, and Fri afternoons, from 1:30pm, and Tues and Thurs mornings from 8:30am.
Requirements
- Previous experience using math and computer skills.
- Vague familiarity with the concepts of deductibles and copays.
- Knowledge of the concept of applying payments to specific qualifiers such as dates of service is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and other company's employees.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, and also to follow procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in business is helpful.
- Ability to collect and keep track of payments from patients and other payors.
- Ability to problem solve if things don't go as expected.
- Being reliable and on time.
