Job Description
The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Education And Credentials
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or NYS Licensed Practical Nursing program required. 30 hours of Continuing Education Annually preferred.
Experience
One year of experience in Surgical Technology field preferred. Requires critical thinking skills, working collaboratively with a variety of licensed and non-licensed professionals internal and external to hospital operations, application of clinical knowledge and skills in performance of patient care in new and evolving situations, clear communication of educational materials and clinical procedures, clinical administration of a full patient assignment, decisive judgment often exerted in emergent situations, time management and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
