Summary of Position

This position is responsible for the achievement of the Parts Department’s annual business plan and is aligned with the company’s vision, values, and goals. This person is responsible for developing, monitoring, promoting, and implementing the parts departments strategic business plan. Also required is providing inspirational and motivational leadership, developing the departments employees, managing capital resources, balancing management needs, overseeing daily operations, and collaborative team building. The person in this position is expected to collaborate with all management groups and other departments within the dealership to achieve overall dealership goals..

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership in all aspects of the Parts Department and the dealership.
  • Coach and mentor Parts Department employees daily with regards to efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction. Work with the parts team to know the external and internal customer’s current and future expectations.
  • Work with all dealership departments to resolve customer concerns.
  • Ensure proper parts stocking levels to maximize customer satisfaction and maximize utilization of company resources. Works with other stores to maximize company resources when ordering parts.
  • Oversee a perpetual and an annual inventory process while practicing proper inventory control techniques throughout the year.
  • Oversee the accurate recording of parts transactions and invoices, including lost sales.
  • Help create the Parts Department’s annual business plan and goals, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
  • Ensure that proper communication takes place throughout other departments and the dealership.
  • Foster an engaged work environment, encouraging accountability, open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from peers and team members.
  • Lead and manage all business and/or department activities related to ensuring the customer experience is positive and that all team members are committed to creating solutions and long-term relationships with customers.
  • Ensure that sound and safe business practices and processes are implemented and continuously improved to achieve ethical business objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.

Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to affectively lead in a team environment.
  • Strong focus on supervising a group of service technicians.
  • Able to understand technician efficiency reports and how to use them to better manage a service department team needs.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Strong knowledge using computers and computer programs. (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. Experience with business systems a plus.)
  • Attention to details.
  • Able to communicate effectively as appropriate for the needs of customers or coworkers.
  • Meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete then under time constraints.
  • Ability to interact professionally with other employees, customers, and venders.
  • Ability to use interpersonal skills necessary to communicate by email and telephone to provide information with courtesy and tact.
  • Able to adapt to new technology quickly and troubleshoot basic problems.
  • Ability to analyzing and interpreting data and reports.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Educations and/or Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Two-year certificate from a college or technical school for Diesel Maintenance and at least five years related experience within the equipment industry preferred. Prior management or service management experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
