POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSE
BCS Teaching Intern (Upper School), will work alongside classroom teacher to support student learning. Assist the learning environment that will emphasize and assist planning and classroom instruction; assessment of student progress; and advancement of Brookside Charter School mission, vision, and values.
BCS Teaching Interns is for individuals who are interested in being teachers, but are not yet certified or in their final stages of the certification program. Interns are paired with a certified mentor teacher in a co-teaching model and paid a stipend. This program is open to individuals engaged in their student teaching experience for the school year if they are able to meet the following requirements:
- Commit to at least four days in the field during the first semester and five days during the second semester
- Participate in back to school professional development beginning in August
- Demonstrate that their teacher education program supports this placement for the school year
- Commit to teaching at Brookside Charter School after their student teaching year, if the candidate and BCS agree that the position is a good fit
- Demonstrate a willingness to engage in continual job-embedded professional development related to all areas of teaching and learning, including the qualifications listed below

- As a teaching intern, the candidate must be actively working towards appropriate certification (Missouri Certification)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position may require sitting, standing, and walking for intermittent periods, as well as moderate dexterity in operating standard office equipment (e.g., computer, printer, copier).
- This position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and speaking.
