Brookside Nursery is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Junior Landscape Estimator and Assistant Project Manager. This dual-role position involves project estimation, budgeting and planning while supporting the management and execution of landscaping projects. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized and has a passion for landscaping and construction.
Responsibilities:
Junior Landscape Estimator:
1. Landscape Design and Client Meetings:
a. Meet with residential clients on site to discuss project goals, preferences and budgets.
b. Provide expert guidance on landscape design options and solutions tailored to their needs.
c. Collaborate with clients to develop creative, functional and aesthetically pleasing landscape designs.
d. Utilize design software ( e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUp or similar) to produce concept drawings, renderings, and layout.
e. Present designs and proposals to clients in a professional and engaging manner.
f. Incorporate client feedback into designs and ensure alignment with their vision.
2. Project Estimation:
a. Assist in preparing cost estimates for landscaping projects, including labor, materials, mobilization and equipment.
b. Analyze project blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
c. Obtain and evaluate bids from vendors, subcontractors and suppliers.
3. Budgeting:
a. Develop and maintain detailed cost breakdowns for projects.
b. Monitor and track costs to ensure adherence to budget.
4. Data Management:
a. Maintain an organized database of pricing, materials and historical project data for reference.
b. Update and refine cost estimation tools and templates.
Assistant Project Manager:
1. Project Coordination:
a. Support the Operations Manager in coordinating schedules, subcontractors and resources.
b. Assist with procurement and delivery of materials to ensure project timelines are met.
2. Communication
a. Act as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, landscape construction foreman and operations manager.
b. Address client inquiries and provide regular updates on project status.
3. Documentation
a. Help prepare project reports, schedules and workplans.
b. Track and manage project changes, ensuring documentation is up to date.
c. Assist in post project documentation.
4. Site Visits:
a. Work with Landscape Construction Foreman and installation team to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
b. Conduct site visits to assess progress, identify issues and ensure quality control.
c. Assist in resolving on site challenges promptly.
Entry Level position Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 year technical school
- 0-3 years of experience in landscaping, design or construction management
(Entry level candidates with strong skills will be considered)
- Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or equivalent)
- Proficient with construction practices, interpreting plans, and performing takeoffs.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- A creative mindset with a passion for design and client satisfaction
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client homes and project sites in a company vehicle as needed
Key Competencies:

Compensation:
Compensation is competitive/commensurate with experience
Starting $50,000- $55,000 with a scheduled 6 month evaluation
