Business Intelligence Analyst

About the Team: Our Fortune 50 Telecom Client is looking for a BI Analyst III to support their Business Intelligence (BI) team. This team is dedicated to ensuring the quality of service for their customers and managing outage data and is responsible for reporting on incoming data, documenting it accurately, and positioning the information correctly for various internal teams. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BI, data analysis, and experience with end-to-end support, with the ability to work independently and take accountability for their tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Business As Usual (BAU) arm by maintaining job and report health, addressing data quality issues, and ensuring data availability.
• Collaborate with internal BI teams to track and follow up on data-related concerns.
• Engage with key business stakeholders and support various initiatives focused on outage data and quality of service metrics.
• Occasionally touch on capital development (cap-dev) projects, though this is not the main function of the role.
• Provide advice and education in the usage and interpretation of business data relevant to the business unit.
• Communicate data nuances and insights to all levels of the company in a clear and concise manner.
• Instill best practices and assist users at all levels within the company on how to leverage BI capabilities for accurate reporting and analysis.
• Leverage knowledge of Business Intelligence capabilities and familiarity with business trends in identifying patterns, opportunities, and threats.
• Work closely with business partners in gathering detailed business requirements, establishing business definitions, translating to technical requirements for the development team, and gaining approval.
• Create report mock-ups based on requirements and coordinate with the technical team in finalizing design and receiving sign-off.
• Support all scheduled and non-recurring information needs of the business users.
• Understand data elements in the warehouse at a very detailed grain to support any form of user needs from research to ad-hoc querying to managing large information projects.
• Query large datasets and tables comfortably to provide information requested by business users.
• Present data in a fashion that is easy to understand with proper documentation for successful user adoption.
• Create test plans and scenarios and conduct testing to ensure quality and requirements traceability to the final deliverable.
• Understand and evaluate cross-functional and system-to-system impacts of requirements and change requests.
• Act as a liaison among the business, development, and support teams to ensure solutions being developed meet or exceed business needs.

Qualifications:

• 4-7 years of experience in Business Intelligence or a related field.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of Microstrategy or similar programs.
• Experience uncovering, defining, and writing up detailed business requirements from stakeholders.
• Proven experience and passion for leveraging data to drive business impact.
• Strong communication skills and ability to speak to large groups with excellent presentation skills.
• Ability to perform critical thinking in data analysis with advanced analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, prioritize and organize effectively, and manage multiple projects/assignments.
• Ability to understand complex business processes, rules, and gain business acumen to become a subject matter expert.
• Proficiency in MicroStrategy, SQL, and data analysis tools (PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong understanding of reporting platforms like Tableau or PowerBI.
• Industry background is ideal but not required.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Standout qualities include being an easy conversationalist and having a proactive approach.
• Nice to have skills: Dashboarding experience and experience with reporting/Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, AWS, Redshift).
