Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controls Engineer / Electrical Engineer. This role focuses on floor support for a facility with over 3,000 machines and 700 employees, including 24 different machine cells. As a Controls Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining operational uptime by providing troubleshooting, programming, and technical support across multiple control systems. This role is key in ensuring that machines, equipment, and systems are fully operational and functioning efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Floor Support: Provide on-demand support for troubleshooting and fixing issues across various machine cells. Respond to multiple daily needs related to machine controllers, logic programming, and automation systems.
- PLC Programming and Troubleshooting: Modify and troubleshoot PLC logic, including ladder logic programming, to address issues such as faulty switches, system upgrades, and obsolescence of hardware.
- HMI Upgrades and Support: Assist with HMI troubleshooting, including identifying and upgrading outdated systems to improve machine operability.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with electricians and technicians to diagnose machine issues and provide support as needed. Work closely with suppliers for resolving hardware or software-related problems.
- System Integration: Work on various control systems, including but not limited to Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and others. Ensure smooth system integrations and updates across a wide range of controllers.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise with internal teams, vendors, and technical support to troubleshoot issues and ensure machine functionality and process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience: ~5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or similar role. Experience in automotive manufacturing is a plus but not required.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with multiple control systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or others.
- Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and machine issues in real time.
- Communication Skills: Effective communicator who can work closely with different teams, including electricians, technicians, and suppliers.
- Flexibility: Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to urgent needs across the facility.
