Senior Data Center Technician
Chicago, IL (onsite)
Shift: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm after hours support as needed
6 Month W2 Congtract
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on break/fix support and diagnostics, as part of a larger Infrastructure Operations team, including the provisioning of new resources, managing after-hours maintenances to production hardware, as well as assisting in both performing penetration testing and with rapid remediation efforts of any findings, with a understood sense of urgency.
- Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
- Racking and stacking servers, installing software and OS on servers, and cabling
- Manage Hyper-V and VMware environments, including implementation.
- Handle server and workstation operating systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and patch management.
- Perform system performance monitoring and optimization.
- Provide disaster recovery, backup, and restore capabilities for systems and applications.
Qualifications
- 5 years working within a data center environment
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V (Sever 2019 or 2022)
- Data center automation experience nice to have not but not required
- Prior professional experience with bare-metal Windows Server installation, management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, in a datacenter environment.
- Familiarity with security best practices and common compliance standards at a high-level.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills required.
- Implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex environments.
