Associate Electrical Engineer – Distribution Grid Planning

$40-45/hr.
We are hiring an Associate Electrical Engineer Engineer to join the Distribution Grid Planning STEM team, a part of the Distribution Grid Planning Modeling and Analysis group, at one of the largest utility company’s on the east coast. As an Electrical Engineer on this team, you will help provide technical support for Grid Planning, Grid Resiliency, Grid Modernization, and Integrated Distribution Planning activities by performing basic system studies, analyses, and modeling in support of long-range distribution grid planning needs. As such, you possess a strong engineering or technical background, ideally with some exposure to electrical power systems, electrical/utility design, and/or construction experience. You also possess strong knowledge of engineering principles, engineering design, utility construction and practices that will enable you to progress in an engineering or technical career series. Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 1-3 years’ relevant technical experience, demonstrating knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals.
- Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.
- Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in developing system models from diverse and indirect data and information sources preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform low to moderately complex analysis for distribution load and reliability problems.
- Perform the analysis to identify overloaded distribution line equipment (stepdown transformers, tap-line conductors, overcurrent protection devices, etc…).
- Develops project scopes to remediate load and reliability problems associated with electric distribution assets.
- Enters and Updates distribution projects in the Distribution Grid Planning investment optimization database.
- Enters and Updates Overloaded Stepdown Watchlist for Grid Operations support.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
