Overview:
A rapidly growing digital sustainability team is expanding support for a portfolio of renewable energy initiatives. This team is focused on capturing landfill gas for beneficial applications and generating renewable energy. As part of a major expansion effort, they are launching new Renewable Natural Gas plants and implementing several digital technologies—including an Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platform.
They are seeking a seasoned Business Analyst with experience in energy and ETRM systems. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, third-party consultants, and development/data teams to enhance digital capabilities and support sustainable energy solutions.
Job Summary:
This Business Analyst will serve as a liaison between technical staff and business users. You’ll work with stakeholders to determine and document business needs, user requirements, and process flows. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation repositories, supporting business user acceptance, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project evaluations.
The role includes partnering with Product Owners on feature discovery and digital platform analysis. You’ll also collaborate with teams across design, UX, and technology functions to document current-state systems, identify feature gaps, and suggest future solutions. Additionally, you’ll help prioritize and plan the product development roadmap in alignment with business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to strategic vision and planning for business solution development.
- Assist in project planning and coordinate resources to complete tasks.
- Conduct business process and systems analysis, considering broader business implications.
- Help manage project deliverables, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Review progress and provide recommendations for accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues, enhance systems, and institutionalize best practices.
- Drive projects toward measurable business results.
Key Activities:
- Analyze target features of digital platforms and evaluate functionality gaps.
- Research existing systems and recommend enhancements.
- Facilitate estimation sessions and break down features into technical tasks and user stories.
- Maintain user story backlogs in tools like JIRA and ensure clarity and completeness.
- Document findings in a clear, accessible format for cross-functional communication.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in related field.
- Required: 8 years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with QA testing, business analysis methodologies, systems design.
- Skilled in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
