Brooksource is looking for a highly skilled IBM Mainframe Systems Engineer to join a leading grocery retailer in the Southeast! The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of IBM z / OS environments and will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and migrating the mainframe system. This role requires a subject matter expert in IBM Mainframe technology and will have direct impact on strategy and execution of projects. Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain IBM z / OS mainframe systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design and implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancement.
• Performs installation, maintenance and upgrades for system software and ISV software.
• Maintains and supports virtual tape backup systems and libraries.
• Provides troubleshooting, training, and technical support for all users and projects of the organization.
• Resolves issues other tiers of support have escalated / transferred.
• Responsible for the configuration and readiness of the disaster recovery mainframe site, including immutable storage systems.
• Participates and performs tasks in disaster recovery exercises.
• Ensures compliance with server, network, security and engineering standards and guidelines.

Technical Qualifications

Extensive subject matter expertise and team lead experience with IBM z / OS mainframe and related tools / products including LPAR configuration, MQ Series, DB2 COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS and mainframe ISV software.

Experience with IBM’s file structure(s) : (i.e. HFS, ZFS, and PDS’s), TSO, and DFSMS.

Experience with IBM DS89xx disk subsystems including day to day operations, replication, flash copies and immutable staging using tools like Copy Service Manager (CSM) and others.
