Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Designer – Piping 1 for a short-term contract opportunity in Wilsonville, AL. This entry-level role supports piping and mechanical design for retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects within the power generation sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 3D piping and equipment layouts using design software.
- Produce 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe supports, and material take-offs.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers from various disciplines to ensure accurate and efficient designs.
- Apply relevant codes and standards to all design work.
- Perform field data collection to support design development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of mechanical piping design experience in power generation or similar heavy industrial environments.
- Experience with 3D modeling tools for piping system layout.
- Preferred: Proficiency with Plant 3D.
- Basic understanding of mechanical piping systems and retrofit or new construction workflows.
- Familiarity with ASME/ANSI codes and standards.
