Senior Project Manager – Electrical Distribution & Fiber Construction
Duration: 2-year contract with possible extension
Location: Hybrid - Oak Brook, IL
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a background in large-scale electrical distribution and construction projects. This role focuses on managing multi-year, complex infrastructure initiatives, including fiber installation, pole reinforcements, easement coordination, permitting, and make-ready work. Ideal candidates will bring a strong go-getter mindset, the ability to hit the ground running, and demonstrate a track record of problem-solving, driving execution, and managing bid processes for long-term construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Project Oversight: Lead large-scale, multi-phase projects, including design, planning, permitting, and construction execution for electrical distribution systems and fiber networks.
- Coordination & Communication: Organize outages, coordinate easements, secure permits, and manage multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
- Construction Management: Oversee pole reinforcement and underground installation work, managing timelines, resources, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Bid Preparation: Develop RFPs (Request for Proposals), manage vendor selection processes, and negotiate contracts.
- Execution & Problem-Solving: Drive execution by solving complex problems and ensuring efficient project completion.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including senior leadership, to align on project goals and deliverables.
- Process Improvement: Bring expertise to identify opportunities for process improvement, sharing best practices, and contributing to the team's success.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years in project management, preferably within electrical distribution, utility, or fiber construction industries.
- Project Scale: Proven experience managing large, multi-phase, multi-year infrastructure projects (vs. quick-turn or small-scale projects).
- Construction Expertise: Strong background in distribution make-ready work, permitting, underground construction, and pole reinforcements.
- Bid Management: Experience preparing and managing RFPs, including navigating months-long processes for vendor selection and procurement.
- Go-Getter Attitude: Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve complex problems, and hit the ground running.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with senior leaders.
- Utility Knowledge: Familiarity with ComEd or similar electrical utilities is a plus but not required.
