Brostrom Physical Therapy is an outpatient physical therapy clinic located in the close-knit community of South Lyon, Michigan. We specialize in hands-on, manual therapy, and believe that guiding each patient from diagnosis to functional recovery through a variety of treatment techniques (including education, exercise, manual therapy, etc) is essential.
We are looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) physical therapist to join our growing team. Ability to work 1-3 evening shifts (until 7 pm) during weekdays is preferred. The position offers competitive pay and benefits.
Job Purpose: Examine and evaluate, restore patients function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed and hands-on physical therapy.
Physical Therapist Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting examinations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan by administering manual therapy; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as therapeutic exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive devices, such as crutches and canes.
- Evaluates effectiveness of physical therapy treatments by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending, adjusting, and modifying.
- Completes treatment and discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan during treatment and following discharge by designing individualized home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending follow-up programs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills/Qualifications: Emphasis in hands-on treatment, physiological knowledge, desire to motivate others, legal compliance, outstanding bedside manner and clinical skills, leadership, knowledge of pain management, high energy level, persistence, and knowledge of health promotion and maintenance, team player.
