Brothers Building A Better Nation (BBABN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth and families in Newark by addressing systemic barriers and fostering resilience. Through our Intensive In-Community (IIC) Therapy and Behavioral Assistance (BA) services, we help youth ages 4 to 21 overcome challenges, develop life skills, and thrive in their personal, academic, and social lives.
Position Overview
BBABN is seeking compassionate and skilled Behavioral Assistants (BAs) to join our team. As a BA, you will work with youth and their families in their homes and communities, implementing strategies to support emotional regulation, social skills, and overall development. This role is critical to helping youth achieve their Individualized Service Plan (ISP) goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-home and community-based support services for youth, focusing on skill development and behavioral management.
- Collaborate with IIC clinicians, caregivers, and Child and Family Teams (CFTs) to implement the ISP goals.
- Use evidence-based techniques to address challenges such as emotional regulation, social skills, and peer interactions.
- Serve as a role model and mentor, encouraging positive behaviors and reinforcing coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of sessions in CYBER and other designated platforms.
- Participate in team meetings and communicate progress and concerns with IIC clinicians and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth and families in a behavioral, educational, or mentorship role.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral interventions is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage with youth from diverse backgrounds and build trusting relationships.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for in-home and community visits.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $27.35 per hour
