Job Summary:
The Environmental Service Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in healthcare, commercial, or industrial facilities. Responsibilities include performing routine cleaning, disinfecting, and waste disposal tasks to prevent the spread of infection and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to follow strict sanitation protocols. The ideal candidate is dependable, works well independently or as part of a team, and takes pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Mop/auto-scrub/vacuum.
- Runs auto scrubber/extractor/furniture extractor.
- Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of all equipment used.
- Moves furniture.
- Ability to adjust to any last minute changes that may occur.
- Must be self-directed, work independently, self-motivated.
- Must have strong time management skills.
- Clean carpets/ flooring in public areas and resident’s rooms.
- Cleans public commons daily as written on daily task sheet.
- Assist team with household commons.
- Assist team with deep cleaning resident’s rooms as needed.
- Cover for team when short staffed.
- Deep clean commons as scheduled on the deep clean calendar.
- Cleans windows as needed or scheduled.
- Keeps stairwells in clean/safe conditions.
- Collects soiled rags from team and launder them.
- Collects light trash from team as needed.
- Refreshes cleaning rags as needed.
- Restocks janitors closet with supplies, put away supplies/order
- Cleans residents’ rooms following facility’s policy and procedures.
- Adheres to the established policy and procedures of the facility.
- Attends all mandatory in-service education programs and Attends all fire and safety drills.
- Follows the facility’s policies and procedures for fire safety, disaster and evacuation.
- Participates and assists in department projects as directed.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident information and honors the residents’ personal property rights.
- Works within HIPAA, Corporate Compliance and Residents Rights and policies
- Performs any related/ assigned duties as needed.
- May be requested to assist with resident move in or room changes.
- Will assist PCAs and family as necessary to box personal effects upon the direction of the Environmental Services Director.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of housekeeping/floor tech experience
- At least 18 years of age
