Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Store Director (SD), the Asset Protection Clerk (APC) is responsible for verifying customer receipts based on the guidelines contained in the APC Code of Conduct (APCCC). Their primary responsibility and focus are on ensuring that all products have been paid for prior to leaving the store.
Job Distinctions:
APCs are to remain standing in their respective doorways to monitor and prevent shoplifting and contributing to loss prevention and should always refer to the APCCC.
Examples of Job Tasks:
- Delivers superior guest service including greeting, assisting, and thanking guests in a prompt, friendly, and professional manner
- Cross-checks merchandise with receipts for high dollar value items, as well as defined suspicious items contained in the APCCC
- Checks every receipt possible without creating lines at the exit door
- Checks items when guests do not have a receipt, when items are not bagged, when items are located at the bottom of the shopping cart, and other items that are of high dollar value
- Marks every checked receipt with a marker provided by the company
- Reports suspicious behavior and interactions to management
- Monitors customers who are entering and exiting the building
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the entrance and exit of the store
- Prevents lines forming up at the exit door by keeping traffic moving
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge:
- Loss prevention policies and procedures
- Identifying suspicious/shoplifting behavior
- Basic Arithmetic knowledge of basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Skills:
- Interpersonal skills interact and socialize with customers in a friendly manner
- Conflict Management speaking to and deescalating situations involving uncomfortable and/or upset customers
- Detail oriented be able to notice and identify things that could potentially be overlooked
Abilities:
- Weather Conditions ability to work in warm and cold temperatures
- Standing ability to stand in the same place for long periods of time
- Visual processing be able to recognize product that may not have been paid for
