REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
General Description
Performs professional nursing care and general medical services.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires four (4) years as a Registered Nurse in general or family practice, pediatrics, OB-GYN (obstetrics and gynecology), or as a Certified Physician Assistant in general or family practice, substance abuse, mental health, pediatrics, OB-GYN or closely related experience depending upon area of assignment.
Certifications and Licenses Required
Possesses a current CPR provider card.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Special Requirements
Required to work nights/weekends/holidays and on call hours.
- Doctorate in related field
- Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Creole and/or English/Portuguese
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
In collaboration with a physician, performs comprehensive physical examinations; orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies; and integrates findings according to protocols; participates in or develops multi-disciplinary therapeutic plans and/or staffing according to protocols.
At the direction of a physician, may elicit and record complete medical history of patients.
Performs forensic medical examinations and/or medical consultations regarding children and adults who have been abused or sexually assaulted; prepares written reports of medical evaluations and medical consultations; may prepare narrative, technical, or program reports using computer-based applications.
Provides after hours and/or on-call coverage as required for the area of assignment when necessary.
Participates in developing facility and treatment policies related to the delivery of patient care; counsels patients and families in the promotion of preventive health care; develops medical, nutrition, hygiene, staff, patient, and other education programs.
Attends meetings, such as staff, performance improvement, and/or medical committee meetings as required for the area of assignment.
Supervises clinical personnel in the absence of the site director as required for the area of assignment.
Performs related work as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
