Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Preferences
Experience with QLESS online queuing system.
Experience in Consumer Protection application review and processing.
Experience in using POSSE.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
- Assists customers with general and specific information concerning permitting and licensing activities in the areas of consumer protection, environmental protection, construction licenses and permits, planning and developmental reviews, impact fees, as well as zoning and land use regulations, and right-of-way permits.
- Assists customers in person and on the phone by reviewing applications and monitors for accuracy and completeness before it is sent to the agency for approval; reviews, processes and enters new license application into proper database.
- Prepares official correspondence to the State of Florida’s Licensing Division and other Florida counties regarding contractor’s licenses, test scores and good standing with Broward County.
- Processes payments for a variety of different agencies; screens phone calls and directs customers to the proper agency or personnel that can assist them; provides information to the general public regarding elevator regulations, building permits, renewals and other related information.
- Plans, organizes and schedules monthly meetings; prepares and submits monthly meeting agendas and minutes.
- Updates State contractors’ information prior to pulling a permit in the unincorporated areas of Broward County and, as custodian of records for the Licensing Division, attends court for license and unlicensed activity subpoenas.
- Prepares the application prior to board review and attends board hearings; enters the board’s decision, types and mails out letters of approval/disapproval; sends approved applicants’ data to testing company, scans files into database.
- Inputs total daily number of customers seen; ensures that there are adequate amounts of necessary forms and supplies at the work stations; date stamps and files electronic signature pages that are required for projects that are filed through the E-permitting procedure. Performs related work as assigned.
- Performs general customer service and backup for cashiering functions as needed.
