The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Animal Care Supervisor - Field to support the Animal Care Division.
- This position will require working weekends.
General Description
Performs supervisory work in the field of animal care and regulation and in the operation of kennel facilities.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires two (2) years in the professional care and control of animals in the field, a kennel or shelter facility and one (1) additional year of supervisory or leader worker experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at time of appointment, and must obtain and maintain the authority to drive on County business.
Applicants must also have the following professional trainings / certifications from Florida Animal Protection and Advocacy Association (FAPAA) or National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) or be able to obtain them within 6 months of hire if certified in a different state :

Animal Care is open year-round, 7 days a week. Are you willing to work on weekends, holidays, and disaster response activations?
This position is responsible for ensuring staff compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), developing and maintaining those SOPs, and training staff in those SOPs. What experience have you had in establishing policies and procedures for an operation?
This position is responsible for ensuring that staff properly interpret and enforce county ordinances related to animals. What experience have you had in interpreting and enforcing county ordinances related to animals?
What is your understanding of euthanasia decision making in open-admissions municipal shelters? Are you able to perform humane euthanasia as needed?
