The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Maintenance Manager (Water Distribution & Collection) in Water & Wastewater Operations Division.

The Maintenance Manager manages Skills Trades Supervisors in the construction, maintenance and repairs of County-owned water and wastewater infrastructure, and is responsible for the following : directing and managing work projects and personnel; scheduling, assigning, and monitoring work for maintenance staff, coordinating projects and overseeing job functions to ensure safe working standards, monitoring inflow and infiltration activities, developing scopes for master agreements, and attending regulatory inspections; composing electronic and paper documentation, creating and filing work orders electronically, monitoring and tracking employee records, attendance, sick leave, and annual leave; maintaining daily-log sheets and Kronos workforce time-sheets; preparing and presenting monthly maintenance performance reports; preparing and administering performance evaluations; obtaining purchase orders for special projects, managing section budget, reviewing and approving P-Card purchases, providing equipment specifications, purchasing major equipment, and recommending distribution flushing plan based on water distribution regrowth studies; participating in employee development and human resources activities, upholding and maintaining water operators certification requirements, and supporting the computer maintenance management system (CMMS) asset management program.

General Description

Manages a maintenance crew in the construction, maintenance and repairs of county owned facilities.

Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires four (4) years in general maintenance or closely related experience including one (1) year of lead work / supervisory experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License and a State of Florida Level 2 Water Distribution System Operators License for duration of appointment.

Preferences

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Public or Business Administration, Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Water Distribution System Operator License Level 1
  • Certification as Asbestos Contractor / Supervisor or Asbestos Worker / Handler
  • Certification in vendor training on operation and maintenance of hydraulic, plumbing, electrical, or instrumentation equipment
  • At least two (2) years of experience using Maximo or another computerized maintenance management System
  • At least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and / or other applicable computer program
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

    Directs and manages work projects and personnel. Schedules and assigns work for maintenance staff and follows up throughout day to ensure each assignment is complete; meets and follows up with other County employees that may be working on projects or work orders; coordinates daily assignments and oversees all job functions to ensure safe working standards and assigned facility.

    Composes and responds to emails, files work orders electronically, monitors and tracks employee records, attendance, sick leave, annual leave; enters all daily log sheets and facility focus time sheets; prepares and maintains monthly reports; prepares and administers performance evaluations for subordinates.

    Performs daily inspection of the grounds and buildings, common areas, depending on assignment may include fences, picnic tables, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, parking lots, walkways; uses information for the assignment of daily staff assignments.

    Assigns work order numbers and retains records to monitor status of work done by staff and agency, inputs staff work hours daily, approves and update records daily and approves time cards for subordinate staff in a timely manner.

    Ensures all assigned personnel adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Agency / Department and Broward County Government.

    Performs related work as assigned.
