The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Behavioral Health Clinician positions with the Broward Addiction Recovery Division.
General Description
Provides counseling, screening, assessment, and intervention to individuals and families.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, gerontology, psychology, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment.
Requires one (1) year in social services casework, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment.
Depending on the area of assignment, six (6) months of clinical case management may also be required.
Special Requirements
Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to work nights/weekends/holidays.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License for duration of appointment.
Depending upon area of assignment, licensures and/or certifications may be required.
Preferences
* Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) or Certified Addictions Professional (CAP)
* Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling or closely related field (Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Counseling Education)
* Bilingual (English-Spanish/Creole)
* Experience as Qualified Supervisor as approved by the Florida Department of Health (requiring periodic re-certification) The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. This is advanced professional work involving in-depth clinical assessments and/or treatment services of high risk population including issues of alcohol use and/or drug use, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other traumas.
Employees in this class perform with some autonomy and make independent judgments within established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed through supervision, conferences, reports and observation of work achievements.
Conducts clinical interviews; biopsychosocial evaluations, group and individual counseling sessions.
Work involves application of a variety of advanced diagnostic and assessment techniques including methodologies and skill training within established policies and procedures.
Develops treatment plans with program participants.
May counsel program participants, including those with complex issues; facilitate intermediate and advanced group sessions concerning substance abuse and co-occurring related issues.
Maintains associated clinical records manually and/or electronically using computer based applications.
Observes, evaluates, monitors, reports and records client status and progress.
Attends regular multidisciplinary meetings to discuss clinical cases
Coordinate services and facilitate discharge planning with case managers for continuity of services for clients.
Attend periodic trainings to maintain clinical competency in working with clients
