The library serves as an integral part of the community, offering classes in computer technology and educational, recreational, and cultural programs on a regular basis. In a programming section or the Community Engagement section, this position may provide supervision for the programming unit, coordinate projects, train, and resolve day to day operational issues of the unit; develop and implement programs and services, including serving as a resource for division-wide initiatives, contribute to the development and implementation of grant proposals to seek funding for library program; oversee installations of displays in exhibit/gallery spaces; be responsible for scheduling meeting room reservations and ensuring that Division procedures for usage and fee policies are properly administered; coordinate events that require AV support in either a fully equipped auditorium or theater space; working with partner organizations, authors, and artistic entities to deliver high quality programs; and serve as a resource for cluster branches, and other duties as assigned.

Requires an Associates' degree or two (2) years of higher level education from an accredited college or university.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)
Requires four (4) years of library operations and processes experience or experience relevant to area of assignment; including two (2) years of lead worker/supervisory experience.

General Description
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Oversees lending of library materials to customers through coordination of shelving, holds, returns and maintenance of customer circulation reports for branch and cluster and customer records; supervises cash handling procedures and related reports, and ensures staff complies with Libraries Division's cash handling procedures.
Assists customers in locating materials on shelves as well as in using the computers, printers and scanners to access and retrieve information.
Resolves disputes with customers regarding fines, lost materials, overdue materials and other issues involving circulation records.
Ensures Library and County policies and procedures are being adhered to and administered fairly, and interprets same policies and procedures to staff and customers as needed.
Selects, trains, supervises, counsels, and evaluates staff in circulation; maintains performance logs; coordinates with college partners and college employees for limited service hours.
Develops policies and procedures through service on the system-wide Circulation Services Supervisors Committee; tests new technologies and services and makes recommendations before system-wide implementation; assists in the development of training manuals.
Serves as system-wide resource person for Circulation Services; updates policies and procedures and trains staff for implementation.
Serves as Supervisor-in-Charge (SIC) of the library ensuring the safety of customers and staff, advising cluster branches, and handling emergency situations.
Initiates and prepares adult programs for upcoming months using library themes as guidelines; researches and hires speakers, presenters/performers, vendors, non-profits and authors; books photographers, sound and lighting technicians.
Develops, coordinates, plans and implements large-scale special events and coordinates programming for key initiatives and new programs throughout the library system, as assigned; works with artists in preparing exhibits; fills out required paperwork and prepares signage for exhibits; ensures the exhibits are properly displayed.
Prepares press releases and information about programs to email to online customers, for print pieces, and for the Facebook page and submits information to e-calendars; works with marketing to design and then proof posters, brochures, flyers, web design, signage, programs/schedule.
