BC is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Water Resources Leader to play a crucial role in our North and South Carolina Water Resources business. This technical area includes stormwater, environmental planning and permitting, watersheds and ecosystems, integrated resource planning, as well as climate and resilience. This position entails market leadership across North and South Carolina, and potentially the southeast depending on the candidate’s experience.

BC strongly prefers candidates for this position to be in our Raleigh office, although we will consider well-qualified applicants from other locations.

As a Water Resources Leader, you will collaborate with the Office Leaders, Technical Service/Practice Leaders, Design Services, and the marketing team to cultivate and enhance client relationships. You will have the opportunity to align BC’s innovative solutions with client needs, lead project teams to ensure quality project delivery, and guide procurement processes to secure new opportunities.

Detailed Description:

  • Develops high-value client relationships, while representing BC. 
  • Responsible for developing and driving sales and business goals for the Raleigh Water Resources market. 
  • Engages and cultivates client service teams to support understanding and delivering on client needs and expectations. 
  • Creates client engagement strategies and pursuit plans, actively leading in key opportunity proposals, positioning, teaming, messaging, and interviews.  
  • Understands and applies knowledge of market trends and drivers. 
  • Serves as project manager or senior technical resource for key clients. Manage multi-disciplinary resources to deliver projects on schedule and budget and according to client critical success factors.  
  • Ensures high quality client services, clarity on work products, and delivery of high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints.   
  • Utilizes internal systems for communication, tracking and collaboration on projects and opportunities.  
  • Supports development of staff members, especially as it relates to exceptional client service delivery, strategic planning, and effective communication.  
  • Meets identified performance metrics including annual sales goals, project budgets and schedules.  
  • Leverages resources, experience and skills of the firm to support client goals. 
  • Participates in professional societies, creating connections for BC and technical professionals in support of client goals. 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental etc.) required; M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on water resources or environmental engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of North Carolina and/or South Carolina.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in consulting and engineering services in the environmental sector with progressive responsibilities including business development and project delivery especially for water resources municipal and State clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, lead project teams to meet project requirements, and provide strong business growth results in management roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects, delivering on time and on budget while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Proven understanding of environmental and regulatory drivers for clients and projects.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in sales portfolio management, strategic planning, resources allocation, leadership.
  • Proven technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually are required.
  • Ability to motivate others and lead teams to implement plans for projects and client pursuits.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future. 

Salary $145,000 – $199,000
