Brown and Caldwell has an opportunity for an I&C Engineer to spend a spring and summer working with our Design Services team to support our Denver office. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who wants to spend their spring and summer gaining practical, hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Interns at Brown and Caldwell make a daily, material impact by completing support duties to advance their team’s projects and objectives. They receive professional training and the support of their team. Interns can expect to be onboarded, mentored, and developed by industry leaders to develop real-life skills and make an impact on their assigned projects. Projects this role may work on include:

• PFAS Treatment Facilities
• Control System Upgrades
• Wastewater Treatment Expansions
• Construction services for Drinking Water and Wastewater Facilities

As an I&C Engineering intern, you can expect your experience to include the following:

• • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and other team members to execute work for drinking water, wastewater treatment, and conveyance infrastructure design projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of electrical or I&C engineering design deliverables including calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings (including P&IDs, control panels, network diagrams), specifications, and data analysis.
  • Support municipal water and wastewater clients with pre-design tasks and alternative analysis.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications to support engineering services during construction for water and wastewater projects.
  • Conduct occasional field work as necessary to support project design or construction.
  • Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s QA/QC process.

Work schedule and location is in-person at the Denver office or hybrid schedule: 3 days in the Denver office at the Lakewood, Colorado; 2 days remote.

Desired Skills and Experience:

To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a degree in engineering, science, geology, or a related field. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

What Must Our Candidate Have? (Required)

• The candidate must be in good academic standing with their university and carry both a cumulative and core curriculum GPA of at least 3.0
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Beginner design software experience: Bluebeam, AutoCAD, etc
• Highly organized and effective in communication
• Self-starting and collaborative

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Look Like? (Preferred)

• The candidate must be in good academic standing with their university and carry both a cumulative and core curriculum GPA of at least 3.0
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Highly organized and effective in communication
• Self-starting and collaborative
• Prior internship experience
• Passed FE Exam or intent to take the FE Exam
• Interest and Classwork in electrical circuits and control systems or experience with low-voltage systems.
• Control Systems knowledge (PLCs, SCADA, DCS)
• Experience with BC’s design tools: AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu

Salary Range: The hourly pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.

Hourly $20.20 – $27.70
