Detailed Description:
- Serve as a technical expert on wastewater solids treatment projects from pursuit through planning and implementation.
- Perform analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout for projects large and small, including conceptual planning studies, pilot or demonstration scale facilities, preliminary design documents, greenhouse gas impact, and detailed design plans. Work independently solving complex problems and as a member of a broader project team.
- Assist in advancing climate initiatives, including fugitive methane, greenhouse gas accounting and incorporation of wastewater in Climate Action Plans
- Perform engineering work with the Solids and Energy Specialty team on wastewater projects for municipal and clients
- Serve as a project engineer and coordinate the work of engineers and technical staff on small and large projects. Interface with client staff to gather information, propose on future work, and present findings.
- Collaborate with project managers, project oversight staff, client service managers, staffing managers and other project personnel from other disciplines.
- Contribute to research and development initiatives to advance industry innovation, particularly for climate initiatives
- Provide technical sales support while collaborating with business development teams on opportunities and pursuits for wastewater planning, engineering, and implementation projects.
- Effectively balance technical sales initiatives with a technical execution role during the procurement and execution of key projects
- Participate directly in collaborative industry associations and research (e.g. SEBA, Water Environment Federation) and present at conferences to further represent BC’s brand.
- Assist with career development of team members and identify high potential performers to create a healthy career progression and sustainable/long standing project support structure for our clients
- Promote and execute companywide initiatives and values
Desired Skills and Experience:
- B.S. degree in the areas of Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on wastewater solids process engineering; M.S. or PhD preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal wastewater treatment, engineering and management, including planning, design, and client interfacing required. Commiserate experience in graduate studies (e.g., PhD research) would be acceptable in place of work experience.
- Detailed knowledge in solids processing and handling, digestion, biogas utilization, and biosolids end-use.
- Detailed knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting for wastewater treatment.
- Experience with energy planning and optimization is a plus.
- Experience with solids process modeling (Sumo, GPSX, Biowin, etc) is a plus.
- Professional registration in North Carolina or ability to obtain quickly through reciprocity preferred.
- Self-driven and self-directed work performance demonstrating critical thinking and adaptability in the face of complex work assignments.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for technical and non-technical audiences
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $97,000-132,000
Location B: $106,000-$145,000
Location C: $116,000-$158,000
