Brown and Caldwell has an opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern to spend a summer working with our team to support our Salt Lake City office. Detailed Description:
How Will You Make an Impact?
Interns at Brown and Caldwell make a daily, material impact by completing support duties to advance their team’s projects and objectives. They receive professional training and the support of their team. Interns can expect to be onboarded, mentored, and developed by industry leaders to develop real-life skills and make an impact on their assigned projects. Projects this role may work on include:
- Work closely with design engineers, project managers, and other team members to execute design work for water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water infrastructure projects.
- Assist with the preparation of engineering design deliverables including calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and data analysis.
- Support municipal water and wastewater treatment clients with pre-design tasks and alternative analysis.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
- Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications to support engineering services during construction for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Conduct occasional field work as necessary to support treatment project design or construction.
- Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time.
- Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s QA/QC process.
Work Location and Schedule: Interns are expected to be in Brown and Caldwell’s Salt Lake City office (in person) at least three days a week and have the option of working remotely two days a week. Summer Interns will work full time (40 hours a week).
Desired Skills and Experience:
To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a degree in engineering, science, geology, or a related field. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
What Must Our Candidate Have? (Required)
- Junior or Senior student attending university working on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in chemical, civil, mechanical, environmental or related engineering field required; graduate students may also be considered.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Enthusiasm and skills for collaborating in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic computer skills. Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF editor is preferred.
- Strong technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts
- Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability and willingness to perform occasional field work at various local sites
- Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems
Salary Range: The hourly pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
