Join us as a Senior Accountant - IM Funds
Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. is currently recruiting a Sr. Accountant (Associate Officer level) to join the Fund Accounting and Reporting team. This role is responsible for the review of the financial, tax and investor reporting data for the BBH Real Estate Funds, Private Equity and/or Hedge Funds. The role is responsible for working and interacting with the Funds’ Administrators in Boston (TA, Financial Reporting, Partnership Accounting and Tax teams) and other internal and external groups (i.e. JV partners, sub-advisors, portfolio managers, etc.) in preparing the Funds’ monthly or quarterly NAV reporting and other ad-hoc reports. This role requires knowledge of partnership accounting, partnership tax, investment company accounting and financial reporting. This role requires interaction and oversight of the Funds’ external auditors in relation to the annual audits. This role includes the review of Fund K-1’s, federal and state tax returns, other tax forms, and related working papers prepared by the Fund’s tax preparers. This role also requires review of Fund analytics such as IRR’s, total returns, and other performance metrics. The role reviews the expenses of the Funds and ensures that the Funds’ expenses are paid timely.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Initial review of monthly/quarterly financial reporting received from the service providers for the BBH private funds including capitals, redemptions/distributions, assignments, etc. This role requires familiarity with management fees, carried interest waterfall calculations, and performance fees.
- Provide accurate and timely financial and tax reporting to investors.
- Review the expenses of the Funds and ensures that the Funds’ expenses are paid timely while providing a strong internal control environment and oversight of the BBH Private Funds.
- Provide oversight and feedback to the Fund’s administrators, auditors, tax preparers and other internal and external groups.
- Review and provide feedback to the administrator for investor capital call/distribution/redemption calculations and notices.
- Review and provide feedback to internal and external tax preparers regarding the Funds’ federal/state tax returns, investor K-1s and other tax forms.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5 years relevant job experience in fund accounting with a fund or an administrator
- Strong accounting skills, knowledge of partnership accounting, and understanding of K-1 and Partnership/Corporate tax reporting and investment company accounting
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve problems independently
- The ability to communicate and resolve issues with Service Providers
- The ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage deliverables
- Big 4 fund audit experience and CPA is a plus
- Knowledge of real estate fund accounting a plus
This role is based in our New York City location and is a hybrid role, with three days per week in office.
Salary Range
$90k-$110k base salary annual bonus target
