Brown & Brown is Seeking a Business Development Specialist to join our growing team in Manassas, VA.
The Business Development Specialist is responsible for expanding the broker/agency base for the Profit Center’s products and/or programs. This may be accomplished by establishing strong broker, agency, and /or producer relationships through frequent contact, clear knowledge of company strategy and superior product and industry knowledge.
How You Will Contribute
  • Source and identify broker and agency relationships where new business opportunities can be developed.
  • Manage a database of qualified leads/contacts for the purposes of sales visits and promotional activity.
  • Monitor the performance of the brokers/producers in the database in regards to statistics such as hit rates and submission flow.
  • Organize sales strategies and coordinate activities to support, such as visits to insurance broker offices, meetings, and networking events.
  • Develop and consistently act on a sales strategy schedule in coordination with PCL/Brokers/Underwriters.
  • Gather competitive data identifying market trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities, including the use of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate records to maximize potential.
  • Maintains contact with brokers in the market area to ensure high levels of satisfaction. Communicate areas of concern with PC Leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Licensed as a Virginia Insurance Agent
Skills & Experience to Be Successful
  • Effective written and verbal skills.
  • Obtain industry designations as promoted and funded by the agency
  • This Position requires routine travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are requirements of this position.
