Job Description: This position reports to the Chief Dog Warden. The Deputy Warden is responsible for the duties listed below. This person must be able to execute the responsibilities with excellence and professionalism.
The primary objectives of the position include enforcing dog laws, reuniting dogs with their owners, resolving complaints, giving citations and educating the public on the humane care for animals as stated in the Ohio Revised Code. The position requires a high commitment.
· Learn and understand and enforce The Ohio Revised Code (ORC) pertaining to Dogs.
· Educate the public about animal welfare, and animal control laws and regulations
· Communicate verbally and written in a professional & efficient manner.
· Answer inquiries from the public concerning animal control operations.
· Answer incoming complaint calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
· Capture and remove stray, uncontrolled, or abused animals from undesirable conditions.
· Issue warnings or citations.
· Prepare for prosecutions related to animal treatment, and give evidence in court.
· Assist the County Auditor in the sale of dog and kennel licenses.
· Completing dog tag checks throughout the county.
· Responding to 911 calls day/night, while you are on call.
Job Requirements
· Must be able to work having a weekly rotational schedule, required to be on rotation for the 911 on call phone.
· 18 years of age or older
· Communication skills
· Must be able to lift 50lbs
