TBD Position : Brown County Schools is seeking a full-time certified school counselor to provide educational, career, and student assistance services to students in grades 9-12 at Brown County High School. The counselor to student ratio is currently 1 / 225. Located in the heart of Nashville Indiana, Brown County High School is about a 30-minute drive from Columbus, Bloomington, Greenwood, or Martinsville. The School Counseling Department includes two full-time certified school counselors, a Career Coach, and a Work-Based Learning Coordinator.
Qualifications : Candidates must hold a Master's Degree in School Counseling and a School Services License from the IDOE. High school counseling experience is preferred, but not required.
Description : As a leader in the Indiana Uplands Region, BCHS hosts two student-run businesses, is actively developing internships and building apprenticeships, and is expanding options for earning dual credit. School Counselors are central to student attainment of the Brown County Schools Graduate Profile competencies. They view high school redesign as critical for students to meet the demands of today's world. The school counselor is part of a comprehensive school counseling team focused on 1) designing modern opportunities and challenges for students, 2) creating smoother transitions to post-secondary education or training for them, and 3) empowering their families to make informed decisions.
