What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant County Conservationist position at Brown County?
Administers daily operations of land conservation programs, activities, and practices.
Assists in planning and administering the annual budget.
Monitors implementation phases of the department’s strategic plans and reports progress or lack thereof to the County Conservationist. Monitor and ensure progress and achievement of annual project goals and metrics.
Assist with hiring, planning, coordination, and assigning the work of department staff. Help develop their potential, and monitor and evaluates work outputs to maintain efficiency and quality of work.
Work with landowners to install conservation practices. Assist department staff with project oversight including providing technical assistance to staff, reviewing and checking others’ plans, assisting with construction supervision, and as-bult documentation.
Develops, communicates, and monitors policies, procedures, and standards for the department as directed.
Assist with the implementation and enforcement of State and Federal rules and regulations, county codes, and administrative policies. Provide assistance to landowners/land users working to achieve compliance.
Oversees technical assistance to landowners and operators in the comprehensive planning and installation of conservation practices for improved management of land and water related resources; ensures compliance with rules and regulations governing the same.
Assists in the development of public environmental information and education.
Serves as back-up representative for the Land Conservation Committee on specific projects and programs.
Act as backup representative who promotes the County at various public functions.
Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications. Similarly, help to ensure staff are also maintaining and advancing their professional skills and knowledge.
