What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing-BayShore Village position at Brown County?
Executes the Human Services mission, goals, objectives, and standards of performance, policies and procedures in the delivery of nursing services for the skilled nursing facility onsite, Bayshore Village.
Pay rate: $41.67 $2 lead payAssists to coordinate Emergency Protective Placement referrals referred by Adult Protective Services
Assesses and assists with other voluntary placement referrals from the community as needed.
Assists with planning, organizing, and facilitating day to day clinical operations.
Participates in development of nursing home policies and procedures.
Evaluates the efficiency of nursing home practices and assists in process improvement as needed.
Ensures compliance with DHS 132, State and Federal regulations.
Reviews medication errors and other incidents, assisting the Director of Nursing with incident follow-up as needed.
Assists the Director of Nursing with employee evaluations and corrective action as requested.
Promotes and strengthens teamwork and partnership across departments.
Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to nursing personnel.
Assists the Infection Preventionist/Nurse Educator with on-boarding, training and coaching for new and existing personnel.
Helps to ensure adequate supplies and resources for Resident care.
Assists to monitor wounds. Conducts a minimum of weekly wound assessments.
Participates in interdisciplinary behavior management which includes identifying behavior trends, assigning interventions, and reviewing the appropriateness of antipsychotics.
Obtains and processes physician orders as needed.
Periodically assists the Scheduling Specialist to schedule and assign nursing personnel whenever unexpected absences or other coverage needs occur.
Communicates with pharmacies, medical/psychiatric teams, contracted services, and other community partners as needed.
Immediately notifies Administration of any allegations of abuse, crimes or misconduct and assists with investigations as directed.
Periodically assists the MDS Coordinator with Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and data entry
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERTINENT TO ALL INPATIENT DIVISIONS
Initiates and ensures policies, procedures, emergency, crisis and disaster procedures are followed.
Assigns and supervises nursing assistants, LPN and Registered Nurses on their tour of duty.
Completes admissions/discharges according to facility policies.
Observes, assesses, implements and documents nursing action in response to change in behavior and/or condition.
Plans, implements and evaluates procedures that maintain safe client care.
Obtain and transcribes or countersigns physician orders.
Assists in completion of performance appraisals.
Inputs information into the EMR system.
Administers or directs the administration of medications and treatments.
Provides and directs Resident information.
Initiates and contributes to discharge planning.
Participates in orientation of new personnel.
Completes incident reports and immediately notifies Administration of any allegations of abuse or peer-to-peer aggression.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Performs related functions as assigned.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
All standard medical equipment and specialized medical equipment computers.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. One (1) year experience as staff RN, one (1) year of experience in mental health/AODA fields preferred but, not required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current RN license from Wisconsin or, one of Wisconsin’s compact states.
CPR certification.
Wound Certification Preferred
Knowledge and understanding of the terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional
nursing.
Knowledge of a variety of medications along with their side effects, side actions and
contraindications.
Knowledge of basic abnormal behaviors and major mental illnesses.
Knowledge of adult medical problems and treatment approaches.
Ability to initiate, maintain and implement an Integrated Care Plan.
Ability to analyze symptoms and conditions and apply sound nursing principles in making decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff and the public.
Ability to accept and adapt to change.
Ability to understand and carry out policies and procedures governing patient care.
Ability to demonstrate leadership skills to direct and coordinate health team members.
Ability to lead, direct and supervise the work of fellow employees.
