Psychologist - Outpatient Behavioral Health

Reports to the Behavioral Health Manager.   The Clinical Psychologist performs various psychological evaluations for clients over the age of 18 and as ordered by the court. Provides group psychotherapy to adults while inpatient in the psychiatric hospital and individual psychotherapy on an outpatient basis as time allows.  Provides consultation to various departments and performs crisis services as required.

Performs the customary duties of a clinical or counseling psychologist. 


Conducts psychological assessments and diagnoses of adults referred internally by Brown County departments, including Adult Protection, Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Therapy, and adult case management programs.  


Conducts diagnostic testing and diagnostic formulations on request from physicians.


Employs psychological /psychometric testing instruments as needed.   Administers psychological, IQ, personality, and other tests as clinically appropriate.


Performs court ordered or requested psychological evaluations and makes recommendations to the court and/or corporation counsel.  Serves as expert witness, providing court testimony regarding evaluation, competency and commitment proceedings.  


Provides individual and group psychotherapy to adults while inpatient in the psychiatric hospital and individual psychotherapy on an outpatient basis as time allows. 

 

Provides consultation to various departments and performs crisis services as required.


Stays current with recording all intake forms, treatment plans, evaluations/assessments, progress notes, closings, and all other related maintenance of client records.


Reviews/approves treatment plans and crisis plans as needed.  Presents and participates in case staffings.


Attends various training programs and seminars.  Stays abreast of professional, ethical, and legal issues within the field and maintains licensure as required to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Wisconsin.


Attends Division and Unit meetings as required.


Continuously seeks ways to improve efficiency and quality of services.


Assures that all practices and protocols are compliant with State and Federal mental health and substance abuse regulations including WI Statutes, WI Administrative Code, along with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements.


Performs related functions as assigned.

Education and Experience:

PhD or PsyD from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology and 3 - 5 years psychological evaluation experience required.  


Licenses and Certifications:

Wisconsin licensure as a Psychologist or eligible for Psychology licensure in the State of Wisconsin.

Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.

Knowledge of the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders, substance-use disorders, and related co-morbidity. 


Demonstrated competence in psychological assessment methodology, including the use of a broad array of psychological and psychometric tests.  


Knowledge of professional and ethical standards in the administration and interpretation of various psychological instruments.


Ability to comprehend and interpret various documents, including referrals, test results, insurance forms, medical charts, and diagnostic manuals.


Knowledge of family systems and typology of family dysfunction.


Demonstrated competence in psychotherapy and substance use counseling. 


Familiarity and comfort with culturally diverse clients and families. 


Familiarity with basic business aspects of healthcare, including managed care principles, insurance reimbursement, and Medicaid reimbursement. 


Knowledge of principles and procedures for providing services to adults including recovery-oriented services, relapse prevention, and psychosocial education. 


Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare documents, including psychological evaluations, progress notes, insurance forms, and test summaries.  


Ability to use and interpret psychiatric and other medical and counseling terminology.


Ability to work the required hours of the position.

Salary : $105,040 - $108,617
