Shelvers ensure library collections are neat and orderly so that library customers can access them in an efficient manner. They also check in, re-shelve and retrieve library materials.Typical Schedule: Tuesdays: 3:15 pm - 5:45 pmThursdays: 3:15 pm - 5:15 pmSaturdays: 9:45 am - 2:15 pm
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Maintain the order and neatness of collections throughout the Librarya. Sort materials by call number prior to shelvingb. Re-shelve library materials to the proper locationsc. Ensure that materials are in the correct order on the shelves (Shelf Reading)d. Shift library materials on shelves as necessarye. Maintain attractiveness of the Library by picking up materials from seating areas, straightening shelves and filling displaysf. Clean library materials as requested 2. Aid in checking in returned materialsa. Empty book dropsb. Check contents of materials to ensure all parts are returned prior to check inc. Reset security on returned itemsd. Check library materials in from customer accounts 3. Retrieve materials for staff and customersa. Search for and retrieve library materials as instructedb. Provide customers with basic directions regarding collections or refer to service desk as appropriatec. Assist customers in finding specific items on shelvesd. Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
