What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Technician position at Brown Packing Co., Inc.?
The Quality Assurance team is looking for a hardworking individual to conduct routine food safety and quality audits in the beef slaughter department. The right candidate should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and communicating effectively to supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support and comply with all policies and procedures that ensure food safety. This includes BRC requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and pre-requisite programs.
· Conduct daily paperwork accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner for slaughter department inspection activities.
· Collect food safety samples as needed.
· Oversee pre-operational inspection every day as well as doing environmental swabs.
· Ensure housekeeping of work area is up to standard.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to build, maintain, and improve the company’s food safety and quality culture.
· Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
· Communicate with production on any issues that may arise (specs, food safety, safety issues, etc.)
· Remain engaged and active in the avoidance and observation of unsafe acts or conditions; take immediate corrective action where necessary. Must be committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
Education/Experience:
· Preferably a high school diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a food-processing environment.
· Good reading, writing, basic math, communication and organizational skills.
· Must be able to prioritize projects and multitask.
· Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift, push or pull up.
· Requires the ability to stand for the majority of the shift in a cold working condition and the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. safety equipment) such as hard hats, hair/beard nets, earplugs, etc.
